My problem with "You are what you eat, watch, read, listen to, and who you spend time with..."
My problem with "You are what you eat, watch, read, listen to, and who you spend time with..."
I get what the saying means: what I eat, watch, read, listen to, and who I spend time with affects me, for good or for bad. But that doesn't mean I have to like it.
Here's why I don't like it.
I am not a plate of impossible chicken nuggets. That's not my identity. That's a page in my book.
I am not No Time To Die, The Phantom of the Opera, or Star Trek: Strange New Worlds. That's not my identity. They are a couple of pages in my book.
I am not the Horatio Hornblower saga. That's not my identity. That's a page in my book.
I am not "Goodbye Yellow Brick Road" or an Elton John concert. That's not my identity. That's a page in my book.
I am not my friends and family. That's not my identity. That's a page in my book.
All of these things are a part of my story, but they are not my identity.
My identity is I am a beloved daughter of God.
